About Us

Over 120 Years of Service

Maurice Hart and a partner started a laundry business in Freeport in 1887, and in 1895 it became Hart's Sanitary Laundry. This family business offered many services including a horse drawn delivery.

In 1927 the business moved to its present location at 130 East Exchange Street. The Kirchberg family bought the corporation from Mr. Hart in 1948. They added a coin-operated laundry in the building of the former Hank Donahue's Hudson auto dealership. The business was in the family until 1992.

Tom and Joanne Lammers bought the cleaners and laundry coming from the Quad Cities. Tom, a second generation professional dry cleaner ran the business through the years.

Tom has been active in both the National and State Dry Cleaning Associations. He is still consulting with Sanitary Cleaners and the state and local association.

Chris Hauck started with Sanitary in 1975 and has experience in all parts of the business and continues as Director of Plant Operations.

Bryan Pozzi is part of a local investment group and graduated from International Fabricare Institute School for dry cleaners and according to Tom, "he is just the ticket."

Service and value have kept this corporation in business for over 120 years. Knowing the area needs and providing quality product has worked as we continue to value our customers.
